Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustas Intro Paragraph:         In Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustas, the motive raises some interesting questions regarding good, evil, and the way mankind is torn surrounded by them. Dr. Faustas is a highly educated and extremely arrogant man. He has mastered several fields of learning?one of them faith?and now wishes to pursue the greatest scholarship of all: pitch-dark magic. As Faustas chases this lofty goal, we learn a lot well-nigh human temperament as well as the nature of good and evil. Marlowe fuses the content of his work with the form in such a way that the readers understanding of the piece is sharpened. He accomplishes this entice of content over form by employing literary devices including imagery, rhetorical language, and references to ancient Greek or Roman times.

Another divide that popped into my head: Nowhere in the piece is this more unmixed than in scene five. In this section, Faustas acknowledges that God can keep him if he repents, but assures Mephistopheles that he cannot repent, for his heart is too hardened. The ridiculousness of a man so arrogant that he convinces himself that he is too great a sinner to repent redden though he knows it will cost him his own interminable life is central to this piece.
